2020 was a year of learning and re-innovation in many sectors including education. PaCT, whose core is freeing the community from illiteracy, arranged teacher support for her sponsored children in the candidate classes. “We believed that it was necessary for the learners to have continuity and use lockdown time to prepare for national exams,” Ms Florence Nabukalu the Project Manager – Education and Livelihood explained.
A year later, these learners have their results from the national exams. “We have not had such good performance before. In the previous years, we have had one or two ungraded learners. 2020 PLE and UCE results have been different, all our learners are graded,” Ms Florence added with a big smile.
The learners are smiling too and with good reason. “With all the difficulties that COVID-19 brought, I am proud of my results. The support from teachers while schools were closed helped me so much. I hope that other learners will get the same help,” John Baptist who scored seven aggregates shared.
John Baptist received a bicycle to help him get to school early once schools reopen. Two more who passed PLE and the three who excelled in UCE with the first division received mattresses as rewards for their hard work.
All this good news would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors through Mityana Charity (UK). We are forever grateful to all of them. You can be part of our donors by filling the form below to support a child like John Baptist to attain quality education.
