Increased access to Land User Rights and sustainable Livelihoods for targeted households
Mityana District is cited as the epicenter of land conflicts in Mubende region. It is estimated that 41% of households in Mityana District has ever experienced a land conflict in the past three years (Baseline survey MUC 2016). The existence of many land-related conflicts have exposed several women and children to torture, forced evictions and denial of land rights. The region is also exposed to high rates of child abuse (rape, domestic violence, child labour, child trafficking and child neglect), domestic violence (especially marital rape, physical abuse), ignorance of the law by populations on human, negligence coupled with corruption by law enforcement authorities and lack of timely access to justice.
It is therefore necessary to call into action the promotion of various citizens’ rights as well as hold duty bearers accountable on their various actions surrounding human rights.
