Celebrating PaCT’s 30-years of Impact Transformation

In 1995, a bold vision was born to transform lives, restore dignity, and empower communities in Uganda through sustainable, people-centered development. That vision became the foundation of Partners for Community Transformation (PaCT). Now, 30 years later, we stand not only as witnesses to that vision fulfilled but as custodians of a legacy still unfolding.

On this incredible journey of impact, we were deeply honored to celebrate PaCT’s 30-year anniversary on 25th Jul 2025, with the communities, partners, and champions who have walked with us across decades. Held under the theme “30 Years of Transforming Lives and Empowering Communities,” the celebration was a beautiful gathering of hearts and history, a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and where we are headed together. One of the proudest moments of the celebration was “the launch of PaCT’s 30-Year Impact Documentary”, a powerful visual archive of our work and stories from the field, bringing voices of the people and the transformation they’ve experienced over the years to the forefront. This was followed by the “unveiling of a new implementation model that repositions PaCT’s work with a fresh focus on adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), mental health, and community resilience.” This bold new direction aims to address today’s most pressing development challenges while building a more inclusive, youth-led future. To leave behind a lasting footprint of the anniversary, we also launched a legacy project, “the construction of a new classroom block and office at Sserunyonyi Primary School in Mityana District,” with support from partners. This project will improve learning conditions for hundreds of children in a hard-to-reach rural area and serve as a permanent symbol of PaCT’s enduring commitment to quality education.

We were deeply privileged to be joined by many distinguished guests whose presence made the celebration truly special. Chief among them was our Guest of Honor, Hon. Judith Nabakooba, Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, who graced us with her inspiring speech and awarded a special gift to PaCT’s Executive Director in recognition of his visionary leadership over the past 30 years. Among the other key guests in attendance were Hon. Muhammad Kibedi Nsegumire, Member of Parliament for Mityana North, and Hon. Hope Grania Nakazibwe, Woman Member of Parliament for Mubende District. We also welcomed representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Lands, the Executive Director of UWASNET, a representative of the National NGO Forum, officials from the Japanese Embassy, donor representatives from GIZ CUSP and GIZ RELAPU, partners from Blood: Water and ENABLE, private sector leaders, partner school head teachers, service providers, former beneficiaries, members of the PaCT Board of Directors, and local community representatives. Their attendance symbolized the collective effort and trust that has carried PaCT through three remarkable decades of service.

As we reflected on key milestones, one thing became clear: the journey of impact has been deep and transformative. We equipped 120 adolescent girls and young women with vocational skills in tailoring, shoemaking, and bakery; trained 420 young people in financial literacy and entrepreneurship; and supported 180 individuals with start-up kits and productive tools. Through the establishment of 30 Village Savings and Loan Associations, over 900 members have gained access to essential financial services. We constructed over 300 water points, improved menstrual hygiene access for more than 4,000 schoolgirls, educated 15,000 young people on proper WASH practices, and provided 600 adolescent girls with Comprehensive Sexuality Education. Our support to schools includes infrastructure improvements in 32 institutions and the construction of over 30 girl-friendly latrines, while six maternity wards now offer better reproductive health services. Over 300 children received holistic education sponsorships, and more than 3,000 caregivers were engaged in positive parenting initiatives. In personal development, 500 youth gained essential life skills, 300+ received career guidance annually, 160 were linked to mentors, and 90 were trained in leadership and public speaking. Collectively, these efforts have led to a 35% reported increase in quality of life among adolescent girls and young women across health, economic, and social well-being. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our donors, partners, friends, and the communities we serve. During the celebration, we honored these champions with tokens of appreciation for their dedication to this shared journey. This 30-year milestone is not an end, but a renewed commitment to serve, to grow, and to keep communities at the center of all we do. Together, we have made a lasting impact—and together, we will go even further.
