On August 29th, 2024, the Kabule community celebrated a transformative milestone as the Kabule Health Centre III officially opened its new state-of-the-art maternity ward. This significant development was made possible through the generous support of Clare Choudhury through Mityana Charity-UK, whose contributions have helped shape a better future for mothers and children in the region.

The new maternity ward was commissioned by Dr. Deo Lubowa Ssemujju, Assistant Commissioner of Primary Health Care, who emphasized the importance of improving maternal health services. The ceremony marked the culmination of a journey that began on October 5th, 2023, when PaCT broke ground on this vital project.

The previous maternity ward at Kabule Health Centre III was severely lacking in basic facilities. Cramped spaces, inadequate equipment, and a complete lack of privacy for mothers underscored the urgent need for improvement. Despite these challenges, the center served approximately 11,000 people annually, including 1,174 antenatal care visits, 340 deliveries, and 700 immunizations. With the new maternity ward, these critical issues of overcrowding and lack of privacy have been addressed, ensuring that mothers receive the care they deserve in a dignified, safe, and supportive environment.

The modern facility features a range of essential services designed to enhance the quality of care for both mothers and newborns: Dedicated Delivery Room, Postpartum Room, Washrooms and Examination/Triage Area, Doctor’s Room, Laboratory, and Store, Nurses’ Resting Room, Comfortable Waiting Area for Mothers. This new space not only improves the quality of healthcare services but also offers privacy and comfort to mothers during one of the most critical moments of their lives.

As we open the doors to this new facility, we reaffirm our commitment to the health and well-being of every mother and child in Kabule. The new maternity ward will ensure that more mothers can access safe childbirth services and receive the care they need in a compassionate and dignified setting.

This milestone is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through Mityana Charity, community partnerships, generosity, and a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference.
